Table Settings for Spring.

The Latest

the blog:

Spring is here, which means it’s time to switch things up a little! Place settings are one of my favorite ways to do this. They are an easy way to help your home match the season, without breaking the bank. Open shelving in your kitchen is an amazing opportunity to carry Spring into other areas as well!

These smaller touches provide a place for creative expression and a little more adventurous approach to home decorating. You might not follow the boldest trends when it comes to purchasing a couch, but why not decorate your table and shelves with something fun and interchangeable?!

Here are three of the top themes for table settings I have been seeing and loving this spring:

  • Handcrafted designs. There is so much amazing stoneware, pottery, speckled paint, woven elements, and watercolor-inspired plates, cups, and decorations available to grace your table. Mix and match the pieces that you love most, keeping the overall tone of your home in mind. The idea is for it to be personally curated and to have the look of handcrafted quality. Some fun inspiration for this can be found at Anthropologie! You may have some local shops in mind as well for pottery and stoneware.
  • Colors. Don’t be afraid of color this spring – bright and fun pastels. I have been loving colored glass this season! You can consider doing white dishes with colorful glasses, or clear glasses with colorful dishes for your table setting. Colorful plates on your open shelving are the perfect way to give them a facelift, so keep your eye out for those pieces that speak to you!
  • Detailed patterns. Another theme I am loving on my dining table is detailed patterns. This could be a pastel floral print, abstract watercolor, or woven elements on your table, among many other things. Maybe those patterns could show up in the form of a painted design on your plates, textured glassware, woven napkin rings, or floral-printed pitchers, just to name a few ideas!

Don’t be afraid to mix and match a little, keeping the existing vibe of your home in mind! I personally love to see when my clients allow their personal taste to influence the way they decorate, whether they are following current trends or not! Ultimately, your home should reflect who you are as a person. The most important thing ultimately is that YOU love doing life there, and sometimes a bright new place setting as Spring arrives can make a huge difference. Always let me know if you have a question or need a little bit of direction as you design your home!
